Indie I Do Draw Winner

We’d like to congratulate Emily Nicholson, who is getting married on June 12th, and has won 200 cards for her wedding.

We had a great time at the Indie I Do wedding show. It was our very first trade show and we learned a lot. For example, bring an extra set of tools to speed up the setup and take down process. (We took far too long!) This is what our booth looked like once we were finally done setting up.

We tried our best to make our booth as eco-friendly as we could.

We received a lot of positive comments on our cards, along with requests for Save the Dates and Thank You Cards. We are working to put these new products up in our store as soon as possible.

Green Wedding Venues

When picking a venue for your wedding, the best choice is often to pick one that is local and does not require your guests to drive long distances. Thought with guests coming from all over the globe, selecting a location that is central to everyone may not be possible. Another green option is to select a venue that is rated eco-friendly. Below is a list of green venues in British Columbia, Canada.

Harrison Hot Springs
Location: Southwestern British Columbia
Capacity: 200-250 guests

Snow –capped mountains, hot springs, and mysterious visits from the Sasquatch. The resort is a great place for ceremony, reception, and honeymoon. The Harrison Resort received high ratings from a number of different Green rating establishments for energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, and waste reduction. They are rated green by Greenhotel , Greenpath and Green Key Eco Rating.

Kamloops Town Lodge
Location: Kamloops
Capacity: 15-300 guests

The famous indoor tropical courtyard, elegant ballroom, and special packages for skiing and wildlife tours. This hotel is a great place for ceremony, reception and honeymoon. The Kamloops Town Lodge is a green hotel, and this motto is backed up with comprehensive recycling programs, power smart programs, the elimination of hazardous chemicals and synthetic perfumes in the products they purchase, and water efficient shower heads, taps and low flow toilets. The Kamloops Town Lodge is a member of Greenhotel and is rated by istayGreen.

Goldenwood Lodge
Location: Golden
Capacity: Less than 50. Off-season only

A Peaceful and Quiet Retreat in the majestic Canadian Rockies of British Columbia, right on the Edge of Wilderness. The Goldenwood Lodge is a great place to host a small and intimate wedding, and an even better location for the honeymoon. They only use biodegradable, natural cleaning products, and use recycled paper products. Food is organic and grown locally. Goldenwood is rated green by Environmentally Friendly Hotels and Greenhotel.

Iguana Ranch
Location: Cowichan Valley
Capacity: 150 guests

Oasis of lush forests and scattered gardens, shaded-seats for guest from a natural amphitheatre. The Iguana Ranch is a great fit for ceremony, reception and honeymoon. Their efforts to be sustainable include fully separated garbage, recycling, and composting facilities. A drinking water dispenser instead of plastic water bottle usage, solar powered lights, and salvaged building materials.

VanDusen Botanical Garden
Location: Vancouver
Capacity: 100-800 guests

55-acre garden, vibrant flowers and a view of the mountains. The VanDusen Botanical Garden is a great setting for an outdoor ceremony and reception. Come visit us at the Indie I Do Wedding Show!

Now that the holidays are over, wedding season is fast approaching and it’s time to start doing some serious planning.  Many wedding shows are taking place around the lower mainland, and we’ll be taking part in one of them near the end of the month.

Come see us at the Indie I Do Wedding Show on January 23rd at Heritage Hall.  The Indie I Do Wedding Show aims to cater to a diverse crowd, and is not your traditional wedding show.  Independent vendors and designers from all over the city will be showcasing their products and services to those looking for something a little different, and not so traditional.

Come by our booth to say hi, and enter our draw.  We’d love to hear from you and answer any questions you may have.  The first 30 people to enter the show also get free swag bags loaded with tonnes of great stuff!

Are you getting married and are in the Vancouver area?  Drop us a line at info@sgreencards.com and we’ll hook you up with some free passes!  Hope to see you there!
