This past weekend I discovered a neat little market in the heart of Abbotsford.  I headed out that way for some father’s day activities with my family, and along the way we stopped at Nutrifoods Market.

The market specializes in locally grown and organic foods and was opened last year.  They encourage healthy eating and have a kid’s program to teach children about eating well at a young age, and support local famers, events, and charities.

This place was more than just a market – it’s an experience in itself.  There was also an animal exhibit where you can see the animals being raised and an Eco Dairy.  You can see right into the dairy from the road, so it’s pretty reassuring being able to see the actual cows that produce your milk.  The dairy also has a learning centre and offers tours.  We didn’t have a chance to take a tour, but it’s something I’d definitely like to do in the near future.  You could probably spend a whole day exploring the facility and educating yourself about healthy, sustainable eating and farming practices.
